The current edition is a continuation of the original text I had used in the early s. The text is a wonderful blend of plant structure and function with the fundamentals of the physiological processes in plants.
The level of detail is more than adequate for any advanced undergraduate course and the text also represents an excellent reference source for those throughout their careers.
Section 1 deals with transport and translocation. This is the physical basis for how plants manage to move nutrients from the soil to the growing cells of the plant.
Section 2 deals with the fundamental biochemistry of the plant. All the classic cycles are dealt with and there are excellent discussions of protein interactions and the key elements of plant biochemistry. Section 3 deals with growth and development. I especially like Chapter 14 which introduces plant genetic pathways. This is an update of the 4th Edition and is superbly done.
Plant Physiology, Fifth Edition In the Sixth Edition, the Growth and Development section Unit III has been reorganized and expanded to present the complete life cycle of seed plants from germination to senescence.
In recognition of this enhancement Plant Physiology, Fifth Edition continues to set the standard for textbooks in the field, making plant physiology accessible to virtually every student.
Authors Lincoln Taiz and Eduardo Zeiger have again collaborated with a stellar group of contributing plant biologists to produce a current and authoritative volume that incorporates all the latest findings. Changes for the new edition include They harvest the energy of sunlight by converting light energy to chemical energy, which they store in bonds formed when they synthesize carbohydrates from carbon dioxide and water.
As a substitute for motility, they have evolved the ability to grow toward essential resources, such as light, water, and mineral nutrients, throughout their life span. Do you like this book? Please share with your friends, let's read it!! Search Ebook here:. Designed by readallbooks.
